Tips To Be A Mobile Application Developer
There are plenty of jobs out there that promise high salaries. One of those jobs includes being a mobile app developer. You see, although there are a lot of site builders out there that anyone can use to develop an application, there is still a need for an actual developer to do those tasks.
In this article, I will give you some simple tips if you wish to become a mobile app developer yourself.
An app developer is basically a software engineer that focus more on the creation of mobile applications through the use of different programming languages and frameworks.
That being said, you need to have a software developer base first. You either get a degree in computer science or some other related course.
If you do not get a degree, do not worry. There is a plethora of different coding basecamps that teach you the ways. Furthermore, you are also given certificates as well. This will be proof that you’ve indeed completed and learned all of the essentials.
You also need to be aware of the intangibles as well. Some of these include the principles of stable and secure software design, a deeper understanding of the software development cycle, knowledge of common programming languages used in app development such as Objective-C, C#, C++, Python, Java, Ruby on Rails, Swift, etc.
To help you develop an application especially the mobile app development, you will also need to use some platforms as well. There are plenty of them out there, but some of the best ones are:
- Xamarin (Microsoft)
- jQuery Mobile
Knowing them would obviously take a lot of time, so only learn the ones based on the operating system you’re going to focus on. There are two major mobile operating systems used today and that is the Android and the iOS.
Some of them have cross-platform support, but there are also some that only specialize in one platform (and they are very good at that).
Focus on about 3 or 4 development platforms and then branch out from there.
Getting Some Opportunities
Once you’ve got all the groundwork laid out and you’ve established a solid software development foundation, then you can finally find some opportunities out there.
The good thing about being a mobile app developer is that you can get clients from the internet.
You can either go to a freelancer platform that allows you to take on jobs as you see fit or you can go to online job portals where you will find a really big client.
I suggest that if you do not have any connections, that you start being a freelance app developer first. This will allow you to test your chops as well as establish your reputation.
The more clients that are happy with your service, the more referrals that you get. And, the more referrals that you get, the more money you will earn!
